QUALITY OF LIFE COMMUNITY FORUM

On September 25, 2025, I hosted a Community Forum to discuss the recent Cuyahoga Falls Quality of Life survey in more detail and hear more from residents about what the City does well and what can be improved.

One of the most frequently raised issues in the survey and at the forum was the need for road improvements. As we shared at the meeting, roads are one of the largest line items in the City’s budget, and we have increased our investment in roads since 2020.

I also anticipate roads being a priority as City Council and Mayor Don Walters begin the 2026 budget process. 

We are working on 49 resurfacing projects just this year. You can find more information about those HERE. 

In addition to road improvements, a lot of discussion was had about the community’s appreciation for frequent and two-way communication with their elected officials. To that end, I’ve planned a community meeting on the City budget for November 5 (more information below) and will begin regular “office hours” across our City in 2026 where you can drop-in to talk to me directly about any concerns or questions. CURBSIDE LEAF PICKUP

COMMUNITY DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY

Cuyahoga Falls Drug Take Back Day is on Saturday, October 25 (location TBD, watch here for more info). Residents may safely drop off and dispose of expired, unwanted, or unused medication. Note that needles and liquids will not be accepted. This event is part of National Drug Take Back Day.

Can’t make it on October 25th? Residents may also drop off unused and expired medication 24/7 at the drug disposal drop box located in the lobby of the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, 2310 Second Street.

CUYAHOGA FALLS TRICK OR TREATING

Cuyahoga Falls Community Trick or Treat is Saturday, October 25 from 6-8pm. This is a fun time of year for children and a great way to meet and connect with neighbors, but there are a few things to keep in mind so everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday:

Parents should always accompany young children door-to-door.

• Only trick-or-treat at homes that are well-lit and never allow children to enter homes for treats.

• Make sure children are highly visible to cars- use flashlights and reflective tape on costumes, and wear light-colored clothing when possible.

• Don’t assume cars can see trick-or-treaters. Stay on sidewalks and if no sidewalk is available, walk on the edge of the roadway, always facing traffic. Cross streets only in  established crosswalks.

• If older children are allowed to trick-or-treat independently, make sure that a parent or caregiver knows their path, agree on a time to be home, and make sure they are equipped with a flashlight.

• Check trick-or-treaters’ candies before they eat them. Remove any loose candy, open packages and choking hazards.

Homeowners and others can prepare for trick-or-treaters by:

• Lighting the path to your door well.

• Keeping paths and sidewalks clear of leaves and debris that could be a fall hazard.

• Keeping your pets inside and away from the door so they do not jump on or scare trick-or-treaters.

• If you will be driving between 6-8pm, use extra caution.
